Agfa launches new operating model and appoints country manager for
German-speaking market
12 June 2005
Berlin, Germany. After the strategic acquisition earlier this year of GWI
AG, to add hospital information systems to its portfolio of products, Agfa
has announced its operating model in the German, Austrian and Swiss market.
In conjunction with this operating model, Agfa has appointed Thomas
Pasold to lead its healthcare operations in Germany, Austria and
Switzerland. Pasold has been named Country Manager and will be responsible
for the entire Agfa healthcare business in the combined German, Austrian and
Swiss market. Before joining Agfa in February 2005, he held the position of
Sales & Marketing Director at Torex GAP. Thomas Pasold has over 20 years of
experience in healthcare IT. He will report to Paul Veithen, General Manager
Agfa Europe.
"Thomas Pasold's addition to the team will both add to our competitive
offering and strengthen our European capabilities," said Paul Veithen,
General Manager, Agfa Europe. "Our approach to the integration of GWI has
been to preserve the current strengths in sales and marketing and to combine
them with our global leadership in imaging and connectivity."
Germany, Austria and Switzerland will have one common operating model,
which will allow for a further implementation of the valuable expertise
acquired in these markets. Customers will be provided with one joint
solution offering and the best possible support.
The operating model is based on five business units:
- Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP),
- Hospital Information Systems (HIS),
- Diagnostic Information Systems (DIS),
- Information Technology Services (IT-S) and
- Imaging, which covers the radiography solutions, both digital and
conventional.
Michael Wagemann will lead the Imaging business unit in Germany, Austria
and Switzerland. With over 120 employees, Imaging is a crucial business unit
for Agfa, both because of its size and business value, and therefore merits
a particular positioning and the necessary focus. Wagemann will continue to
operate from Agfa's Köln location and will report directly to Thomas Pasold.
"Our goal is to bring to our customers in healthcare really distinct and
differentiated solutions that no other company can offer. This new operating
model blends GWI's enterprise-wide IT platform ORBIS with IMPAX, Agfa's
Picture Archiving and Communication System, enabling us to offer them the
most comprehensive suite of healthcare IT solutions on the market," said
Paul Veithen. "We are confident that this new operating structure will
enable Agfa shape tomorrow's healthcare."
