New laser therapy for tendon and muscle injuries
14 August 2005
MLS (Multiwave Locked System) is a new therapy based on the transfer of
high quality laser energy to injured body tissues.
Produced by Italian company ASA Srl, the laser therapy system is claimed
to exert a strong therapeutic effect both on chronic and acute inflammatory
processes. The company claims it is particularly effective on tendon
and muscle pathologies. It uses two wavelengths of laser light, 808nm
continuous emission for anti-inflammatory and anti oedema effect, and 905nm
pulsed emission for an analgesic effect. The MLS synchronization of the
emissions used strengthens the effects of each one.
The properties of the pulse used are said to overcome the limits of
traditional laser therapy, based on the use of diode Lasers, and have been
shown to be more effective in controlled clinical studies on different
pathologies, such as chronic lumbago, epicodylitis, shoulder pain.
