Ferrania shows new LifeWeb radiology systems at RSNA 2006
30 November 2006 Ferrania is showing its new LifeWeb RIS version 2.5
for the first time at this year’s RSNA 2006 exhibition this week. The
enterprise-level, web-based product provides a complete toolset for
management of the radiology workflow and includes the new LifeWeb RIS Kiosk
solution. The new Kiosk allows self-check-in, via a touchscreen. As a
patient checks in, their study details are sent automatically to the DICOM
modality. The use of secure IDs also enables them to print their own report,
when appropriate. The benefit to the healthcare facility is enhanced
workflow and reduced load on hospital staff. LifeWeb RIS 2.5, as installed
in both public and private institutions in Europe, provides a robust
composition of patient records and images using an intuitive user interface
and a DICOM Structured Reporting Module. It delivers DICOM Structured
Reporting (SR) dose details and enhanced patient management, supports speech
recognition and remote access, and offers statistical modelling. Available
either as a standalone product or as part of an integrated RIS/PACS
solution, it is fully compliant with all appropriate DICOM standards and
supports appropriate HL7 and Integrated Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)
protocols and profiles. Utilising native web technology as a framework,
LifeWeb RIS provides an open and flexible architecture in which integration
of a ‘brokerless’ PACS and RIS can occur, with reports and images converging
within the same DICOM hierarchy. Also on display at RSNA 2006, LifeWeb
OnNet 4.0 is the latest release of Ferrania’s DICOM web-based solution. This
distributes, displays and processes medical images wherever they are needed,
without distinction between local and remote access. The system fully
supports 3D reconstruction, DICOM Modality Worklist (MWL) and Modality
Performed Procedure Step (MPPS) as well as structured reports and “fail
over”. It is accessed via Internet Explorer, with the user’s browser
configured automatically. It provides excellent viewing features equivalent
to many diagnostic workstations and enjoys all normal workflow features, and
more, including auto-report query from RIS/HIS systems and creation of
patient media CD and DVD with inbuilt viewing application. Security is of
paramount importance and data encryption is provided by a sophisticated
security concept. Appropriate online archiving capabilities are provided
with LifeWeb OnNet 4.0, which also offers comprehensive image processing
tools, a high level of security and complete compliance with DICOM
standards. The AiMS teaching module, manufactured by MiASoft and an
integral part of the Ferrania LifeWeb PACS and RIS/PACS portfolio, will also
be on show in Chicago. AiMS allows hospitals, clinics and physicians’
offices access to knowledge bases of relevant clinical information wherever
and whenever required. It is set apart from other systems by its access to a
vast archive of images generated worldwide, with the ability to transfer
that knowledge through flexible and accessible teaching modules.
