InterSystems takes over TrakHealth

21 May 2007

Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. InterSystems Corporation has acquired Australian company TrakHealth, supplier of TrakCare, an enterprise-level web-based health information system deployed in 25 countries. An application partner of InterSystems since 1991, TrakHealth will operate as an independent subsidiary of InterSystems, with its own sales force.

InterSystems is a $200m privately held company that provides database and integration software. Its product line includes the InterSystems CACHÉ high performance object database, InterSystems Ensemble rapid integration platform, and InterSystems HealthShare platform for regional and national electronic health records. All of the top 10 US hospitals, as ranked by US News and World Report, are InterSystems clients.

In making today’s announcement, InterSystems CEO Terry Ragon said “This union of InterSystems and TrakHealth will increase our global prominence and open up major new sales opportunities in international markets. TrakHealth’s success in Asia and Latin America will enable InterSystems to accelerate our growth in emerging markets which hold over 70% of the world’s population.”

Commenting on the new business relationship, TrakHealth COO Chris Chapman said “With the financial strength of InterSystems behind us, we are better positioned to win and deliver the large-scale projects that are redefining healthcare delivery at the community, regional and national levels in many countries. This is a great move for both organizations and for the customers we serve worldwide,”
