Sensitron and Welch Allyn form alliance to provide patient
monitoring

Medical products and solutions provider Welch Allyn has announced a new
partnership with Sensitron UK, developers of software solutions for patient
monitoring.
Together they will provide a software platform that will ensure that key
vital signs and clinical observations are captured and automatically
transmitted to the hospital’s electronic patient record (EPR), helping
reduce time and clinical risk. By providing clinicians with this technology,
an enhanced standard of clinical care can be achieved as well as delivering
both time and budget savings. An independent study (Intel and Christus
Health Wireless Care Study 2006) has found that nurses can save between 35
and 40 minutes per shift.
According to Welch Allyn the partnership will help clinicians meet the
objectives set by Connecting for Health, which challenges the UK healthcare
profession to place data on EPRs in order to cut costs and reduce medical
errors. Together, Welch Allyn and Sensitron will ensure that data captured
by the vital signs equipment will be free from transcription errors and
eliminate the problem of deciphering handwritten records.
Welch Allyn’s extensive range of traditional vital sign monitors and spot
checkers are Bluetooth-enabled to work synergistically with Sensitron
software via the latest touch screen tablet computer, the mobile clinical
assistant, which further improves the efficiency of the monitor.
